I thought the following verses were really interesting considering you are talking here about culture differences and how they might affect our evangelistic approach to different people groups…
One of themselves, [even] a prophet of their own, said, The Cretians [are] alway liars, evil beasts, slow bellies. This witness is true. Wherefore rebuke them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith;
(Titus 1:12-13)
It seems to me that Paul basically “profiled” the Cretians according to what they said about themselves. Then he suggested Titus tailor his approach to them due to their cultural tendencies. Do you think I am stretching this?
"A Missionary was never designed by Jesus Christ to gather a congregation of a hundred or two natives and sit down at his ease, as contented as if every sinner was converted, while thousands around him are eating each other's flesh and drinking each other's blood, living and dying without the gospel. For my own part, I cannot content myself within the narrow limits of a single reef." John Williams missionary to the South Sea Islands
