Have you heard the story of the mouse and the mousetrap? It is a story with a moral.
The mouse gathered the pig, the chicken and the cow…and he told them…
Ok..to get the rest listen to the video…
The moral? People do not always know what is truly important! That is why if you know the truth, you need to make sure the truth is delivered in a way to capture their attention and transform their thinking.

This truth that Al Wells taught me from his days in California changed forever the way I reach men. I know it will do that same for you IF YOU IMPLEMENT IT.
Have you ever wondered if we are too careful in dealing with people about the gospel?
After all, you have probably heard many testimonies of large groups of people getting “saved” when a preacher from America visits somewhere in Africa and gives an invitation.
I thought I would let you see a normal conversation…one that is like those I have multiple times a week with people.
Having the vantage point of over 40,000 Gospel students online now, and corresponding with people from all over this continent, this discussion is very common and the misconception is very real. Ralph is on lesson 10 of 36. So he is not completely new to the studies, nor is he well advanced.
This will show you the thinking of many AND the lack of understanding even though he knows English rather well.
Here is the question in this study:
8. A person that tries hard enough (good works) to please God can escape from the Lake of Fire. True or False.
Ralph answered “TRUE”
So the conversation began…
Trusting in our own works and NOT in Christ is very common here. (I might add it is common in the US also)
How to correct a man and not offend him becomes an issue. Truth always trumps etiquette, but it is good to be wise and yet harmless. (I am working on that one)
Notice how he says he understands, but in the end he does NOT understand at all.
Only one on one questions can uncover this.
Helping people see they are trusting their own reasoning and they have no Bible basis for it is necessary, but difficult to do.
But see how this man is open about where he got this idea. That is progress!
Now to drive the truth home. Does he see the real purpose of the law?
Now his answers seem good and we will move forward with the lessons.
But the real question… did he just give me the answers I wanted? Or does he truly see the truth?
This is part of why we continue on with further lessons and asking similar questions all along the way. It is not unusual for men to answer this one right, explain that they understand…and later the truth is uncovered that they are still trusting in their works for salvation.
As Christmas is approaching, would you pray for Ralph and the hundreds of others I am dealing with who have no idea why Christ came to earth, but yet call themselves Christian?
In this interview with Samuel Hammett we learn about some practical tips on evangelism as the folks at Lehigh Valley Baptist Church go door to door witnessing.
Common wisdom says that door to door visitation does not work any longer.
The Georgia Baptist Convention did a survey of pastors asking them to rate different outreach methods. The results? Door to Door was rated at the very bottom of effectiveness.
But they did not stop there! They then went to the churches in the State that were growing and did research…they found the most effective method of reaching new people was door to door visitation!
You will find in this interview…
The surprising results Lehigh Valley Baptist Church is experiencing with door to door
A simple approach that gets most of your congregation involved
How to use questions to get into a gospel presentation
A way to set up Bible study appointments
The “almost not revealed” statement that increases participation at the door with you
How to handle the “I have a church” objection
8 of us were able to distribute 7000 flyers offering the Correspondence Bible Study today. The response was encouraging, but now we pray for fruit to abound. Will you pray for us? A Saturday morning, February 6, 2016

It was a story worth hearing. I was in Francistown last week for the wedding of Laison and Dimpho, when I heard that Mosalakatane was doing Bible studies in the school at his village. His village is about 50,000 population and he is excited about the opportunity that God brought his way. You may remember […]
My wife and I just returned from the second wedding this year in Botswana among the brethren. I cannot tell you how excited we were to be there. We not only were able to fellowship with the brethren, but also witnessed the wedding of a wonderful couple. I trust the Lord will greatly use them […]
"A Missionary was never designed by Jesus Christ to gather a congregation of a hundred or two natives and sit down at his ease, as contented as if every sinner was converted, while thousands around him are eating each other's flesh and drinking each other's blood, living and dying without the gospel. For my own part, I cannot content myself within the narrow limits of a single reef." John Williams missionary to the South Sea Islands
