Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz….
Do you remember that Jingle?
No, I am not talking about your favorite medicinal drink!
I am talking about what happened today…
We entered the South African Embassy in Gaborone, Botswana and emerged a couple hours later with our South African Visa good for 3 years!!!!!
After 3 years of legal battles and back and forth with Immigration in Botswana, it is good to be allowed to enter a country where the entrance requirements are more on the sane side.
The last 3 years have been a difficult time while we have battled all kinds of ridiculous matters that kept us in threat of being expelled from the country at every turn.
There are some strange winds blowing in Botswana and the issues with the former pastor and his threats of death, assault and stalking sure kept us on our toes.
But through it all I have been so thankful to be here and see all that God has wrought over this 3 years.
Now we will move our sights to South Africa as we pray about just where to locate. Then we want to do it all over again…minus the legal messes. J
Christmas will be a working holiday for us.
Our next step is to box our things and locate a way to move our goods over the border as soon as possible.
Unfortunately the moving companies who have trucks are all closed until January 6th, so we will pursue some other options and see if any are viable.
I would appreciate your prayers for the move. This will be the first move I have attempted in many years without kids to do my slave work.
So pray for Beverly and me…and especially for Beverly. J
Words cannot express the relief we both felt today when we realized we have a country where we can go and continue serving the Lord.
Having a deadline over your head and knowing you must move, but having no permission to enter another country was definitely something to keep us on our knees.
Thank you to all who prayed with us about this Visa.
Rejoicing in Africa,
Douglas Hammett
